Mountain Lamp currently has two positions available: Templekeeper and Resident Intern.

Templekeeper

Available 2017

Mountain Lamp is seeking a templekeeper to live and work at Mountain Lamp, a rural practice center in the foothills of the North Cascades near Bellingham, Washington. The templekeepers are the primary on-site personnel ensuring that retreatants, visitors, and guests are welcomed and well accommodated during their stay. They have specific responsibilities for the day-to-day operation of the center, including activities related to retreats, communications, finances, and maintenance. Templekeepers commit to at least one year and devote 25 hours a week to their work responsibilities.  We will consider applicants with previous experience in a similar role or applicants who have interned with us before.

This position offers a quasi-monastic practice opportunity for a serious lay practitioner under the guidance of the resident teachers, Jack Duffy Roshi and Eileen Kiera Dharmacarya. In addition to the formal retreats offered throughout the year, the daily practice schedule provides an ongoing retreat schedule for part of each day, structuring both meditation and work practice. A small stipend is provided, along with housing, utilities, internet, and delicious, wholesome food.

Resident Intern

Mountain Lamp is also seeking a resident intern to live and work at Mountain Lamp, a rural practice center in the foothills of the North Cascades near Bellingham, Washington. The resident intern supports the templekeepers to ensure that retreatants, visitors, and guests are welcomed and well accommodated during their stay. Working closely with the templekeepers, the resident intern participates in the day-to-day operation of the center. This internship runs for a minimum 3 month commitment at any time of the year excluding January/February, when the center is on hiatus.  We will consider all applicants who have visited the center previously on retreat or guest (personal retreat).

Mountain Lamp offers a place in which to grow in the dharma and participate in scheduled retreats and daily practice under the guidance of the resident teachers. Mountain Lamp provides housing, utilities, internet, and delicious, wholesome food for the duration of the internship.
